The Yellowhead Project has the potential to be one of the most significant copper producers in Canada.
Taseko’s Yellowhead Project is located in the Thompson-Nicola region of British Columbia, approximately 150 km northeast of Kamloops near the community of Vavenby. The Project is primarily in Simpcwú̓lecw, the territory of Simpcw First Nation.
The Yellowhead Project is a proposed open-pit copper mine that has been designed with a production capacity of 90,000 tonnes of ore per day over a 25-year mine life. The Project will use existing road access and an existing site for a rail load-out facility to transport concentrate to Port of Vancouver or other North American markets. A new transmission line will be required to provide electrical power to the Project.
The Project will support approximately 590 direct full-time jobs in operations, along with indirect and induced jobs. A larger work force will be required for the construction period. The region supports a skilled and experienced local workforce that will be important for the Project.
